6/27/2020 0 Comments Jean-Michel Basquait's Painting 'Victor 25448' Is Expected To Make Over $10 Million At Phillips AuctionArt pop icon Jean-Michel Basquiat's painting 'Victor 25448' will be sold at the Phillips Auction.
Before his death in 1988, the painting was displayed in Basquiat's last solo exhibition at New York's Vrej Baghoomian Gallery. The artwork features graphics of signs found in Henry Dreyfuss's 1975 Symbol Soundtrack. The word "IDEAL" is painted across the center of the painting. The Victor 25448 has a pre-sale estimate between $8 million to $12 million. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Art for Justice Fund. The auction will take place on July 2 on Phillip's website! British street art icon Banksy honors the black community with his latest pieces. The painting showcase a memorial centered around a portrait of a ghostly figure. The paint pays tribute to the death of George Floyd and Black Live Matter.
Banksy made a statement about the current issue: “At first I thought I should just shut up and listen to black people about this issue. But why would I do that? It’s not their problem, it’s mine. People of colour are being failed by the system. The white system. Like a broken pipe flooding the apartment of the people living downstairs. The faulty system is making their life a misery, but it’s not their job to fix it. They can’t, no one will let them in the apartment upstairs.This is a white problem. The proceed from the prints will be donated to multiple U.S.-based organizations fighting against racial injustice and social inequality. The collection includes six black screen prints, with limited to 300 editions.
Murakami's iconic flower and skull designs and will be signed and numbered, finished with spray print from the artist. Proceeds will be split between Color of Change, Black Lives Matter and Equal Justice Initiative. The prints expected to raise over $1 million dollar from the charitable contributions.
